The Supreme Prosecutors' Office appointed the idol group "Hearts2Hearts" as "youth drug prevention ambassadors."
On Jul. 1, at its building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office held an appointment ceremony presided over by acting Prosecutor General Gu Ja-hyeon and presented a letter of appointment to Hearts2Hearts. This is the first time the Supreme Prosecutors' Office has appointed youth drug prevention ambassadors.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office plans to carry out a youth drug crime prevention campaign with Hearts2Hearts under the message "Hearts On (lighting up the heart)." The message means "let us light the flame of dreams and hope in the heart of each and every young person and build our own future through healthy choices."
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office also plans to introduce youth drug prevention activities with Hearts2Hearts at the 33rd "International Conference on Cooperation for Drug Eradication (ADLOMICO)," to be held in Seoul on Sep. 1–2 this year.
Considering that Hearts2Hearts members communicate with fans not only in Korea but around the world, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office expects they will play a role in conveying Korea's drug prevention policy to the international community.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office said, "Youth drug prevention is a task that cannot be achieved by the prosecution's efforts alone," adding, "We will further solidify and cooperate to build a social prevention policy that involves families, schools, local communities, and related agencies together."
