The government will extend the deadline for paying local government tax to July 7.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 1st that "the local government tax system transition work to reflect the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Unified Special City and the administrative system reorganization of Incheon Metropolitan City has been carried out, but the resumption of the local government tax system has been delayed so far," adding, "To prevent any disadvantage to the taxpayer due to the delay in resuming the system, we will further extend, in a single step, the filing and payment deadline for all local government tax items to July 7."
Earlier, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) extended the filing and payment deadline for local government tax to July 3, taking into account a computer error in the local government tax system that morning. However, as the system resumption was delayed through the afternoon, it decided to extend the filing and payment deadline by four more days.
An official at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) said, "We will do our best to restore the local government tax system."
