New Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae said on the 1st, "I will awaken Incheon International Airport and Incheon Port with artificial intelligence and firmly establish Incheon as the 'world's No. 1 bio city.'"
Mayor Park said in his inaugural address that "we will usher in an era of an average annual salary of 55 million won and leap forward as an overwhelming economic city that ranks among the top five in South Korea. Incheon's leap will become South Korea's leap," and stated accordingly.
Park, in particular, said, "I will make sure Incheon's young people do not have to leave their hometowns because of a lack of good jobs," and added, "I will, without fail, make Incheon a city that talent from South Korea—and around the world—seeks out on their own."
Park said, "We have the dynamism of 'Haebulyangsu (the sea does not reject any water),' which generates enormous energy," and added, "Let us, with only Incheon's overwhelming growth and citizens' happiness in our hearts, create together the civil-elected ninth Incheon administration."
Park also pointed to fiscal sustainability as a core task of city governance that day. He said, "We face a grave task of normalizing the fiscal failures and policy failures of the eighth civil-elected administration, as well as the nontransparent, concealed governance," adding, "This year's budget is already far short. The liability that will snowball in the future is likewise a painful reality we face."
He continued, "On top of concerns about delays in extending Line 7, even the extension of Incheon Line 1 is on the brink of being scrapped," adding, "I will not cover up or avoid this. I will thoroughly review the books from the ground up." He then said, "We will report every crisis exactly as it is to citizens and untie each tangled knot with certainty," adding, "By constantly discovering sustainable policies and projects, we will solidly fill your wallets and reliably breathe unfailing vitality into neighborhood business districts."
Park also said, "I will keep the mayor's office wide open and communicate. I will make every process of city governance transparent," adding, "We will open a new era of 'citizen-sovereignty governance' in which citizens are truly the owners."
He added, "We will pour all our efforts into uniting 'citizens' wishes' and stirring up a 'new wind' that will change Incheon's tomorrow," and, "We will firmly carry forward this great wind you have raised into a new wind that changes Incheon's tomorrow."
