The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said on the 30th that Kim Min-mun-jeong, former standing representative of Korea Women's Associations United, was appointed as a new human rights commissioner. Human rights commissioners are nominated and appointed by the president upon recommendation by the Human Rights Commissioner Candidate Recommendation Committee. The term is three years.
According to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Commissioner Kim Min-mun-jeong is a human rights activist who has long worked in areas including gender equality, and served as the standing representative of the Korean Women's Minwoo Association from 2014 to 2020.
She later served as a Commissioner of the National Police Commission, co-representative of the Civil Society Organizations Network, co-representative of the Coalition for the Enactment of the Anti-Discrimination Act, and standing representative of Korea Women's Associations United.
