A fire at a new apartment construction site in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, left three people seriously or moderately injured on the 30th.
According to fire authorities and others, the fire broke out at about 1:40 p.m. at a new apartment construction site inside Brain City in Jangan-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi.
Fearing mass casualties, fire authorities issued response level 1, deployed 42 pieces of equipment and 126 personnel, and brought the major flames under control at about 3:19 p.m.
Ten workers who were at the site when the fire occurred were rescued by fire authorities. Among them, a man in his 50s who reported dizziness was taken to a hospital.
Another man in his 50s suffered burns to both hands, and a man in his 30s was reported to have symptoms such as chest tightness.
Police and fire authorities believe the fire started in the underground parking lot and plan to investigate the exact cause of ignition and the extent of the damage once mop-up operations are complete.
They also identified that 183 people were working at the site at the time and plan to check whether there were any additional casualties.
