Kim Byung-min, co-chair of the G3 Seoul Planning Committee, said on the 29th that the G3 Seoul Planning Committee, which will design the future of Seoul as a global top 3 city promised to citizens during the election period, has been launched, adding that the committee will draw up the G3 Seoul Plan to propel Seoul into a global top 3 city and deliver policy outcomes that citizens can feel.
The G3 Seoul Planning Committee is the top policy planning body of the ninth popularly elected Seoul Metropolitan Government, established to formulate the G3 Seoul Plan to propel Seoul into a global top 3 city. Over about 70 days, the committee will review policies by sector and flesh out key pledges to craft a blueprint for governing in the ninth term.
Co-chair Kim Byung-min, who served as political affairs vice mayor in the eighth popularly elected Seoul administration, will lead the G3 Seoul Planning Committee with Hanyang University professor Lee Chang-moo. Ninety-five civilian members, including Seoul National University College of Engineering Dean Kim Young-oh, Daelim University Future Automotive Department professor Kim Pil-soo, Lee Jun-ho, head of Klook Korea, and Cho Young-joon, head of the Center for Sustainable Management at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will take part.
Co-chair Kim said, Top experts in each field will participate as G3 planning commissioners to not only flesh out Mayor Oh Se-hoon's campaign pledges from the election, but also produce meaningful results that can maximize the effectiveness of Seoul's policies as felt by citizens.
The G3 Seoul Planning Committee will operate a total of 10 subcommittees: seven sectoral subcommittees closely tied to citizens' daily lives and three special subcommittees addressing core governance agendas. It plans to hold a general meeting next month to share progress and, after refining projects, announce the G3 Seoul Plan in September.
