Singer Kim Ho-jung, who was released on parole on the 30th, said, "Rather than feeling freedom and liberation from having escaped the prison gates, I will take greater responsibility, repent, and serve out the remainder of my sentence."
Kim Ho-jung stated accordingly in a handwritten letter titled "To my beloved family" posted on his fan cafe that day. Kim said, "Rather than saying anything more, I will clearly see what situation and circumstances I am in now and live without going astray," adding, "I am sorry. I am truly sorry. I will reflect more and set my heart straight again."
At about 11:44 p.m. on May 9, 2024, in Apgujeong-ro, Gangnam District, Seoul, Kim Ho-jung was indicted and detained on charges including drinking alcohol and driving, crossing the centerline, colliding with a taxi on the opposite road and fleeing, and having his manager turn himself in instead. He was later sentenced to two years and six months in prison and served time.
After passing the Ministry of Justice parole review, Kim Ho-jung was released that day from Somang Prison in Yeoju, Gyeonggi. He was able to return to society five months earlier than his scheduled release date.
