Jipyung LLC launched an AI-Infra Center dedicated to advising on artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure businesses, including artificial intelligence data centers (AIDC).
Jipyung said on the 29th that it set up the AI-Infra Center to provide advice on legal systems and transaction structures for AI data centers and related infrastructure businesses. Jipyung explained that it is the first domestic law firm to establish a separate advisory center for AIDC.
The AI-Infra Center handles legal issues that arise throughout the AIDC business. Securing sites and permits, financing, power and energy, environmental regulations, administrative regulations, responses to cyber intrusions, and dispute resolution are the main advisory areas.
Song Do-young, an attorney at Jipyung, will head the center. Song took part in the legislative process for the Special Act on the Promotion of the Artificial Intelligence Data Center Industry (AIDC Special Act), which was promulgated on the 9th. The AIDC Special Act provides the basis for support such as training personnel, supporting overseas expansion, and community cooperation to foster the AI data center industry.
Attorney Choi Jeong-gyu of Jipyung will also join the center as a member. Choi serves as head of Jipyung's IP/IT Group and the personal information, data, and AI team. Attorney Lee So-young, who has provided advice in the information and communications technology (ICT) and research and development (R&D) fields, and Attorney Kim Yong-gil, who has experience working in the construction division of Samsung C&T, also joined the center.
The AI-Infra Center plans to provide advice needed at the planning, construction, operation, and dispute response stages of AIDC projects. It will also support responses to related laws and regulations such as the AIDC Special Act, business structure design, and reviews of supply chain, power, and real estate issues.
Song said, "AIDC projects are large-scale projects entangled with real estate, finance, energy, environmental, and administrative regulations," adding, "We will provide clients with actionable solutions at every stage, from planning to construction, operation, and dispute response."
