Police are currently investigating 57 cases related to illegal acts at the site of the "Jamsil ballot counting center blockade protest," which was held to protest the shortage of ballots.
An official at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said at a regular press briefing on the 29th, "One of the 58 cases has been closed and the rest are under investigation," adding, "The total number of people under investigation is 139."
An official at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said, "There are nine suspects on charges of interfering with the operations of a sports organization," and "About two have been identified."
Protests have continued since on the 5th in the area around the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, which was used as the Jamsil ballot counting center. As a result, organizations under the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) that are housed in the Handball Gymnasium were also blocked from entering.
Police identified five suspects in connection with the unauthorized search of belongings of the women's junior national handball team, and are investigating a total of six people in connection with an assault on a reporter. There are 11 cases of insulting a police officer and obstructing the performance of official duties that is under investigation.
Police also said they are actively requesting the deletion of spreading false information. An official at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said, "There have been 286 deletion requests in total, and as of this morning, 148 have been deleted."
