A man in his 40s who was indicted on charges of posting malicious posts hundreds of times about actor Kim Gyu-ri on an online site was sentenced to prison.
On the 29th, Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 10 single-judge panel Director General Judge Jang Jin-young sentenced A, 46, who was indicted on a charge of insult, to one year in prison.
A was brought to trial on charges of writing 565 insulting posts with Kim Gyu-ri's photos on a public bulletin board of an internet community from Sept. 2023 to Nov. the following year.
Judge Kim said, "For a long period, the defendant repeatedly posted insulting posts on an internet board accessible to an unspecified large number of people, causing the victim extreme mental distress," and added, "The victim has not forgiven the defendant and is petitioning for a heavy punishment." The judge explained the reasoning for the sentence.
Kim Gyu-ri shared the ruling on her Instagram, saying, "A heads-up to those who come into someone else's room and throw filth."
