Kim Se-eui, head of the Garosero Research Institute, who is on trial in custody on charges of spreading false information about actor Kim Soo-hyun, was reportedly placed in a solitary cell.
According to the legal community and others on the 29th, Kim has been held in a solitary cell at the Seoul Detention Center since early this month. In general, inmates use shared cells, but solitary cells may be assigned when necessary for inmate protection or to maintain correctional order.
Kim argued that solitary confinement was necessary, saying there could be threats to safety from those who filed criminal and civil complaints against Kim, and correctional authorities are said to have placed Kim in a solitary cell as part of inmate management.
Kim is on trial on charges including producing a YouTube video claiming that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor and that the direct cause of Kim Sae-ron's death was pressure from Kim Soo-hyun's side to repay debt.
