Suji District in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, has begun distributing a "marriage report completion certificate" that couples who have filed their marriage report can post on social media (SNS). It is a verification form with sensitive personal information such as resident registration numbers and place of family register removed, reflecting the social media verification culture of younger people as an administrative service.
Suji District created the marriage report completion certificate in light of the recent spread of a culture of photographing marriage report forms and posting them on blogs or social media.
Jeong Mira, Director of the Civil Affairs and Cadastral Division of Yongin Suji District, said, "Noting the trend of couples who have finished filing their marriage report taking photos of the form and posting them on blogs or social media for verification, we decided to produce and distribute it with the family relations registration team and the staff of the Civil Affairs and Cadastral Division."
The biggest difference from the existing marriage report form is that it reduces the risk of personal information exposure. The marriage report completion certificate does not include sensitive information such as resident registration numbers or place of family register. It was designed to be less burdensome than the actual marriage report form even when posted on social media, where an unspecified number of people can see it.
On the front, you can write the groom's and bride's names and the date of the marriage report. A stamp reading "couple registration completed" is also affixed. In the center is "Joayong," Yongin City's representative character.
It also serves to publicize support policies for newlyweds by the central and local governments. A QR code on the back links to policy information so newlywed support, pregnancy and childbirth support, and childcare support services can be checked at a glance. Guidance on the online birth registration process is also included. Director Jeong explained, "We structured it so people can naturally come across benefits they did not enjoy because they were not familiar with them."
Suji District has been distributing the marriage report completion certificate on the 25th. Excluding the weekend, a total of 24 certificates were issued over three days through the 29th.
The marriage report completion certificate can be obtained at Suji District Office regardless of residence. That is because filing a marriage report itself is possible at city or district offices and town or township offices nationwide, regardless of address or place of family register. Any couple visiting Suji District Office can receive a "for SNS verification" completion certificate. Couples who want it can pick up the form at the district office and just fill in the blanks.
