Governor-elect Lee Won-taeg of Jeonbuk proposed a "samgyeopsal gathering" to Jensen Huang, Nvidia chief executive officer (CEO), to discuss investment in Saemangeum.
The transition committee for the 9th popularly elected Jeonbuk State governor said on the 27th that Lee recently sent a personal letter with this message to Nvidia's U.S. headquarters and the head of Nvidia Korea.
Earlier, on the 8th, CEO Jensen Huang visited Korea and mentioned Saemangeum as a potential investment opportunity.
In the letter, Lee said, "Saemangeum is effectively a 'blank slate (CleanSlate)' with virtually no regulations," adding, "It is the optimal investment destination with 'zero friction, infinite scalability, and overwhelming speed' that Nvidia needs."
He also described Saemangeum as having "clean energy," "abundant water supply," and a "bold regulatory sandbox," comparable to Arizona in the United States and Oxagon in Saudi Arabia.
Lee said, "Let's set aside stiff protocols and tedious presentations and share samgyeopsal in a relaxed setting," adding, "I want to discuss the next 100 years of Saemangeum and Nvidia."
He continued, "I am confident that a blueprint to make Saemangeum Nvidia's ultimate 'global AI valley' will begin there," adding, "We will mobilize all our capabilities so that world-class corporations like Nvidia can set up shop in Saemangeum."
