Police on the 27th sought an arrest warrant for a man in his 70s who carried out a stabbing rampage at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.
Jongno Police Station in Seoul said it had applied for an arrest warrant for A, a man in his 70s, on suspicion of attempted murder and preparation for arson.
A is suspected of stabbing and injuring B, a person in their 40s, with a sickle at about 7:47 a.m. on the 26th, the previous day, at the Ilmin Museum of Art. Immediately after the crime, A took a taxi and fled through Samgakji in Yongsan District and Noryangjin in Dongjak District before being caught at an acquaintance's residence.
After police urgently arrested A and questioned him, they also found indications that he had prepared for arson and added the charge of preparation for arson.
