The World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA) said on the 26th it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with global economic groups including the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong Committee).

The MOU was signed as a side event to the "2026 Invest Guangdong Briefing" held in Beijing, China. Through the MOU, World-OKTA and the economic groups agreed to strengthen the foundation for cooperation to ensure the successful promotion of the "2026 Korea-China Economic and Trade Exchange Expo," to be held in Shenzhen, China, in Oct. The five participating organizations are the CCPIT Guangdong Committee, the Britain-China Business Council, the Canada China Business Council, and the China-Colombia Chamber of Investment and Commerce, among others.

World-OKTA plans to use the MOU as a springboard to support Korean corporations in entering the Chinese market and creating global business opportunities.

Park Jong-bum, chair of World-OKTA, said at the MOU signing ceremony, "Shenzhen is an important bridgehead for Korean corporations to enter the Chinese market and a key hub connecting to the global market," adding, "By consolidation of Guangdong Province's industrial competitiveness with World-OKTA's global network, we will prepare to make this expo a private-sector economic cooperation platform that creates not only practical cooperation between Korean and Chinese corporations but also opportunities to enter third-country markets."

In response, Zhang Guozhi, vice governor of Guangdong Province, said, "October is an important period when major exhibitions such as the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) are concentrated," and noted, "We expect this event to become a new milestone in Korea-China economic and trade cooperation."
