A man in his 70s who attacked a coworker with a weapon at the Ilmin Museum of Art building in Jongno District, Seoul, and fled has been caught by police.
The Jongno Police Station in Seoul said on the 26th that A was arrested at about 5:50 p.m. at a hideout in Gwanak District, Seoul, on suspicion of attempted murder.
A is suspected of swinging a sickle and other weapons at a coworker at about 7:50 a.m. at the Ilmin Museum of Art building that day, injuring the person. Immediately after the crime, A took a taxi to near Samgakji Station on Subway Line 6 and then disappeared, it was found.
After a pursuit, police identified A's hiding place and took A into custody. At the crime scene, a bag believed to have been left by A was found, and inside were a knife and a white fuel can containing gasoline, according to reports.
Police plan to question A to determine the exact motive and circumstances of the crime and then consider whether to seek an arrest warrant.
