The joint prosecution-police investigation headquarters (the joint task force) set up to determine the facts of the "ballot shortage incident" that occurred during the June 3 local elections searched and seized 122 election commission officials on the 24th.
The joint task force said it "conducted searches and seizures of three Seoul Election Commission officials and nine Songpa District Election Commission officials to carefully reconstruct the ballot shortage situation on election day."
The joint task force is currently investigating allegations that the election commission did not respond properly even though ballot papers ran short at polling places.
The joint task force the previous day received and is analyzing activity materials and review documents from the "Ballot Shortage Fact-Finding Committee" of the National Election Commission.
The joint task force is currently investigating suspicions that the election commission hastily reduced the number of ballot papers to be printed and allegations related to the disposal or loss of ballot storage boxes that occurred after election day. Lax management, including "junket allegations," is also known to be under investigation.
On the 11th, the joint task force searched and seized the election commission and others, securing poll books and internal approval documents.
