On Thursday the 25th, heavy showers are forecast to pour down in many parts of the country except Jeju.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 24th, rain in southern South Jeolla, South Gyeongsang, and Jeju will taper off toward dawn, and on the east coast of North Gyeongsang it will gradually stop in the morning. Rain on the east coast of Gangwon is also expected to end for the most part by daytime.
However, in the afternoon the skies will turn cloudy and shower clouds will expand widely over most regions nationwide except Jeju. In particular, central regions and northern North Gyeongsang could see brief downpours concentrating at around 30 mm per hour.
Expected rainfall from these showers will vary greatly by region. Inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon will see the most, at 10 to 80 mm, while Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, and northern North Gyeongsang are expected to get 5 to 60 mm. Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, North Jeolla, Daegu, and southern North Gyeongsang are forecast for 5 to 40 mm, and inland South Jeolla, the east coast of Gangwon, Ulsan, and inland South Gyeongsang are likely to receive around 5 to 30 mm. The five West Sea islands are expected to get 5 to 40 mm.
Tomorrow morning lows will range from 16 to 20 C, and afternoon highs will range from 21 to 28 C, similar to or slightly lower than today. By major city, afternoon highs will reach 28 C in Seoul, Incheon, Suwon, Jeonju, and Gwangju, feeling somewhat warm; 26 to 27 C in Daejeon and Cheongju; and around 24 to 25 C in Chuncheon, Daegu, Busan, Ulsan, and Jeju. Gangneung on the east coast will be relatively cool at around 22 C.
Waves will run 0.5 to 2.0 meters off the east and south coasts and 0.5 to 1.0 meters off the west coast. In the open seas farther from shore, waves are expected to reach up to 2.5 meters in the East and South Seas and up to 2.0 meters in the West Sea.
Meanwhile, thanks to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the rain, fine dust levels will remain in the "good" range across all regions nationwide, keeping the air clean.
