Singer Kim Ho-jung will be released on the 30th. Kim Ho-jung has been serving time since 2024 for a hit-and-run accident that occurred while driving under the influence.
According to Kim Ho-jung's agency and others on the 23rd, Kim Ho-jung recently passed the Ministry of Justice parole review and is scheduled to be released on the 30th.
With this successful parole review, Kim Ho-jung will return to society five months earlier than the scheduled full-term release date in November.
Kim Ho-jung was also placed on the Christmas special parole review list in December, but release was thwarted at the time after a determination of ineligibility.
At about 11:44 p.m. on May 9, 2024, in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Kim Ho-jung, while driving after drinking, crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming taxi.
Fleeing the scene, Kim Ho-jung also had a manager turn themself in on his behalf. Prosecutors then detained and indicted Kim Ho-jung on charges including injury by dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Kim Ho-jung denied the drunk driving at first, then admitted to the offense 10 days after the accident, and, after being held at the Seoul Detention Center, was transferred in August last year to Somang Prison in Yeoju, Gyeonggi.
