Police are investigating a sales employee at an official BMW dealer on suspicion of embezzling hundreds of millions of won by having a portion of customers' car payments deposited into a personal account.
According to the Haeundae Police Station in Busan on the 23rd, a former sales staff member at Dongsung Motors, identified as A, is under police investigation on suspicion of embezzlement and fraud.
A is accused of luring customers to buy cars with a fake promotion starting in 2024, then forging contracts and having part of the purchase price deposited into A's own account.
A allegedly deceived customers by saying they could receive subsidies if they used a specific financial product, then had a portion of the payment deposited into an account designated by A.
Dongsung Motors and the victims filed a complaint against A in March this year. Police estimate the losses of more than 10 victims amount to hundreds of millions of won. A was dismissed in early this month.
