The second special counsel executed an arrest warrant for former Counterintelligence Command chief Yeo In-hyung on the 23rd.
The special counsel said in a media notice that day that it executed an arrest warrant for former Counterintelligence Command chief Yeo, who is being held at the military prison. An official from the special counsel team said, "We are currently questioning suspects at the special counsel headquarters in connection with the Counterintelligence Command blacklist."
Former chief Yeo is suspected of drawing up a so-called "blacklist" that compiled the names of military personnel with ties to the current ruling bloc during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration and using it improperly, including to disadvantage them in personnel matters.
Documents prepared by the Counterintelligence Command reportedly included personal details such as the hometowns of active-duty and reserve generals in the Army, Navy and Air Force, their political leanings, and their closeness to the ruling party.
Earlier, on Feb., former Army Legal Affairs Office chief Kim Sang-hwan, whose name appeared in the blacklist documents, filed a complaint against former chief Yeo and others on charges of abuse of power.
Former chief Yeo, an alumnus of Chungam High School along with former President Yoon Suk-yeol and former Minister of the Ministry of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, has been indicted and is on trial on charges of engaging in major insurrection-related duties in connection with the Dec. 3 martial law crisis. On the 12th, he was also indicted and, in the first trial, sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges including aiding the enemy in relation to the "Pyongyang unmanned aerial vehicle insertion operation."
