The Central Labor Relations Commission again recognized Hyundai Engineering's status as the principal employer for the subcontractor union.
On the 23rd, the Central Labor Relations Commission granted a reexamination request for correction regarding the notice of the demand to bargain with Hyundai Engineering, upholding the initial decision. The intent is that Hyundai Engineering can be the bargaining counterpart for the subcontractor union.
On the same day, the Central Labor Relations Commission maintained the initial decision that rejected the reexamination request concerning the separation of the bargaining unit at SK ecoplant.
Earlier, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) National Plant Construction Union filed for separation of the bargaining unit against SK ecoplant (a system that allows requesting the division of bargaining units when multiple labor unions exist within a single business site), but the Central Labor Relations Commission maintained the initial decision rejecting it. The intent is that the KCTU National Plant Construction Union should also be included in the overall bargaining unit of subcontractor unions and bargain accordingly.
