An expo where visitors can see the status of the great transformation (AX) of artificial intelligence in the public sector in one place will open. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) said on the 22nd that they will hold the "2026 Public AI Expo (KPAIX 2026)" at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi, from the 23rd to the 24th.
The expo was prepared to link innovation achievements in public-sector artificial intelligence (AI) to industrial growth. An NIA official said, "This expo was planned with the goal of realizing the government's core national task of 'growing domestic AI corporations by expanding the public AI market size.'"
At the opening ceremony, a "pan-ministry K-AI Gov alliance agreement ceremony" will be held with five ministries, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources. In the keynote, KAIST Professor Jeong Jae-seung will present how AI technology signals change and the future under the theme "Elevating the level of public services with artificial intelligence."
On the 24th, a ceremony will be held to mark the 9th Electronic Government Day. Electronic Government Day (June 24) was established to commemorate June 24, 1967, the operation date of the computer (IBM 1401) introduced to an administrative agency for the first time in Korea to process demographics.
At the ceremony, the government will announce the "strategy to realize the world's best AI democratic government," which presents a macro-level direction for public AX policy.
Alongside the strategy announcement, an exhibition hall of 52 AI innovation corporations will be operated so visitors can see public and private AI innovation cases in one place.
Participating corporations include 52 companies such as Samsung SDS, LG CNS, Naver Cloud, Kakao, and other leading domestic artificial intelligence (AI) corporations, as well as innovative startups including Alice Group and KODIT.
The exhibition hall consists of four zones: AI solutions, disaster recovery (DR), AI platform and cloud, and startup innovation technologies. Visitors can get a comprehensive look at the latest public AI technologies, from automating administrative tasks to AI-based disaster response systems.
A "guided expo exhibition tour (docent)" will also be offered to help visitors understand. The aim is to broaden public consensus by explaining AX cases at the booths in terms accessible to the public.
A "business matching consultation booth" that directly connects demand institutions with AI corporations will also be operated. A "local government AI innovation case-sharing network forum" will also be held to share AI innovation cases from local governments.
NIA President Kim Hyeong-cheol said, "We brought together the achievements of public AI built separately by each ministry and institution and the excellent technologies of the private sector in one place to jointly sketch the direction for public AI."
