Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, said on the 22nd that it will conduct a full inspection through December this year of the installation and operation status of Internet of Things (IoT) measuring devices at air-emitting facilities.
The inspection is being carried out to prevent air pollution and strengthen environmental management at small air-emitting business sites. The targets are 367 air-emitting facilities in the area that are required to install IoT measuring devices. Of these, 322 have completed installation of the IoT devices, while 45 are confirmed to be uninstalled.
IoT measuring devices collect and transmit in real time the current, pressure, temperature, and hydrogen ion concentration (pH) of air-emitting facilities and control facilities to verify whether the facilities are operating normally. Business sites subject to installation must complete the installation of measuring devices by Dec. 31, 2026, under the Clean Air Conservation Act.
Accordingly, Yongin will inform business sites that have not installed the devices of the installation obligation and related systems and guide them on installing the measuring devices.
It will also use the small-scale air-emitting facility management system "GreenLink" to check whether the measuring devices are operating normally. Business sites where signs of abnormalities such as communication failures or abnormal signals are detected will undergo intensive inspections, and if the shutdown or abnormal operation of control facilities is suspected, on-site inspections will be conducted to ensure improvements.
A Yongin official said, "This full inspection is intended to support voluntary environmental management at business sites by checking compliance with the installation obligation for measuring devices and their operational status," adding, "We will do our best to prevent air pollution and create a pleasant living environment by utilizing an IoT-based smart management system."
