The National Election Commission said on the 22nd after holding a commission meeting that it "takes seriously the Truth-Finding Committee's investigation result that there were comprehensive problems across election management."
In a press release that day, the commission said it would "review the policies proposed by the Truth-Finding Committee together with improvement measures for the election management system to be discussed in a future parliamentary inquiry, and make every effort so that fundamental institutional reforms can be achieved to prevent a recurrence of situations that damage citizens' suffrage."
At the meeting that day, the commission decided to submit all of the Truth-Finding Committee's briefing materials to the joint police-prosecution investigation headquarters. It also decided to proceed with disciplinary procedures for those involved, depending on the results of a special audit underway by the independent Office of the Inspector General.
The commission said Acting Chairperson Wi Cheol-hwan filed a recusal request and did not attend the meeting that day.
