The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 21st that as of the 15th, last year's disaster recovery project completion rate was tallied at 88.5%. Of a total 9,104 cases, 8,061 were completed, 12.5 percentage points higher than the previous year and 16.6 percentage points higher than in 2023.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) plans to complete, as quickly as possible, projects that can be finished before this year's rainy season. It also plans to further strengthen on-site management at locations where projects are still underway, which require an absolute construction period, to prevent any repeat damage.
In this regard, Kim Gwang-yong, head of the Disaster Safety Management Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), visited the Gippeungolcheon disaster recovery business site in Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi, on the 19th to closely inspect the status of restoration from last year's heavy rain damage and the safety management readiness for this summer's rainy season.
Kim said, "As climate change increases the risk of torrential rains beyond forecasts, we will make every effort to ensure rainy season safety management at all business sites where disaster recovery projects are underway."
