On the 21st, a sedan driven by a man in his 70s mounted the sidewalk on a road in Busan, leaving two people dead and two injured.
According to the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, at about 1:08 p.m. that day, a sedan veered toward the sidewalk on a road in Daeyeon-dong, Nam District, Busan. The vehicle struck four pedestrians walking on the sidewalk, rammed into a subway ventilation structure, and came to a stop.
A woman in her 40s died at the scene. A woman in her 70s was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest and died. A teenager and a woman in her 30s are being treated at a hospital.
The driver in his 70s who caused the crash suffered an ankle abrasion and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A fire broke out in the vehicle after the collision but was extinguished by responding 119 firefighters.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash.
