Saturday the 20th will bring rain nationwide. In some places, the rain will continue through the day after tomorrow. Temperatures on the 20th will be similar to the average, but the day after tomorrow the daytime high will rise to 31 degrees, bringing heat.
The rain will begin on the 19th, mainly in the Chungcheong region, the southern regions, and Jeju Island, expand nationwide late at night, and continue through tomorrow. In areas such as the Gangwon mountains and the East Sea coast, it will rain through the 21st.
Expected precipitation through the 20th is 30–100 mm in the capital area and 20–60 mm in the five islands of the West Sea. In Gangwon Province, the inland will see 30–80 mm, and the mountains and the East Sea coast are forecast to record 50–100 mm of rainfall.
During the same period, expected precipitation in the Chungcheong region is 30–100 mm. Gwangju Metropolitan City and South Jeolla will get 50–100 mm, and North Jeolla will see 30–80 mm of rain. Jeju Island is expected to receive 50–180 mm, with more than 250 mm possible in mountainous areas.
Expected precipitation in Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang, Daegu, North Gyeongsang, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo is 30–80 mm, and 100 mm along coastal areas and near Jirisan Mountain.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged caution, noting that from this day through the 20th, very heavy rain is likely in places, mainly in the Gangwon mountains and the East Sea coast, the South Jeolla coast, the South Gyeongsang coast, near Jirisan Mountain, and Jeju Island.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the capital area, Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region will see 20–30 mm of rain per hour at times. The Honam and Yeongnam regions are forecast for 30–50 mm per hour, and Jeju will see more than 50 mm per hour.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged people to avoid approaching or camping near valleys or rivers because water levels can suddenly rise, and to move to a safe place if the sky suddenly darkens. It also advised against entering riverside trails or underpasses due to the risk of being stranded.
It also called for preparedness for farmland flooding, irrigation canal overflow, soil runoff, landslides, falling rocks, and retaining wall collapses, and urged particular caution in traffic as roads may become slippery or flooded.
On the morning of the 20th, temperatures will be 19–23 degrees, and in the afternoon 22–29 degrees. The day after tomorrow, temperatures are expected to be 16–21 degrees in the morning and 23–31 degrees in the afternoon.
