At Seoul Olympic Park Handball Arena, where a blockade protest has continued for 15 days over a shortage of ballots in the 9th nationwide local elections (June 3 local elections), police opened an investigation after allegations surfaced that an outsider damaged the underground entrance lock and unlawfully entered the interior.
According to police on the 19th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul recently received a complaint from the arena's management company and is reviewing whether to apply charges of property damage and unlawful entry into a building.
The complaint is said to state that on the night of the 7th, an outsider appeared to have damaged the underground entrance lock of the handball arena, entered the interior, and filmed video.
Police moved to determine the exact circumstances, but with the blockade protest continuing at the site, it is expected to take time to check the interior.
Olympic Park Handball Arena was used as a vote-counting site for Songpa District during the June 3 local elections. Since the 5th, citizens seeking to block the removal of ballot boxes and ballots have been blocking the entrances and continuing their protest.
