Law firm Won and law firm Minwho will merge in Oct. The integrated firm will use the name "Law firm Won."
Law firm Won said on the 17th that it will merge with law firm Minwho and begin operating as an integrated firm from Oct. 1. Won has focused on litigation and advisory work for corporations and government, while Minwho has specialized in technology law, including information technology (IT), intellectual property (IP), data, personal information, and technology regulation.
The merger is intended to respond to the expansion of legal demand from corporations into technology, data, security, and regulation as artificial intelligence (AI) spreads. The two firms plan to combine technology law expertise with their litigation and advisory capabilities to strengthen AI-based work structures and client-centered services.
The integrated Law firm Won will also launch an "AI information security center" to coincide with the merger start date. The center will handle complex technology-related issues such as data, information protection, and intellectual property.
Lee Yu-jung, managing partner of Law firm Won, said, "With the addition of Minwho members who have built expertise in IP and information protection in the AI era, we have added innovative capabilities to Won's existing experience."
Kim Kyung-hwan, managing partner of Law firm Minwho, said, "We decided to integrate to combine Minwho's accumulated technology law expertise with Won's comprehensive legal service capabilities," and added, "The integrated firm will strengthen both AI-based legal service innovation and client-centered values."
