A man in his 30s was found dead at an abandoned resort in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, and police are investigating the circumstances. College students who had gone to the site to try a haunted-abandoned-building experience reportedly found the man and called police.
According to police and fire authorities on the 15th, at about 3 p.m. on the 14th, four college students in their 20s found a man in his 30s, identified as A, dead on the rooftop of the 20th floor of an abandoned resort in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, and reported it to police. They had seen a YouTube video of a haunted-abandoned-building experience and went to the resort to try the same experience, where they found A, according to reports.
Police said that, based on a suicide note found at the scene and indications that A had long suffered from a severe chronic illness, there is no suspicion of a crime at this time. The exact cause of death is under investigation.
The resort opened in 1992 but suffered financial difficulties after a bankruptcy the following year. Operations later ceased, and the facility has reportedly been left unattended for a long period.
