Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung awarded the Korea Forest Service a special performance bonus of 10 million won for efforts to prevent spring wildfires and even sent a coffee truck.
This year, the Korea Forest Service pushed proactive wildfire prevention policies based on the "pan-government comprehensive plan for wildfire response using national resources." Wildfire damage area fell 99% from a year earlier, and there were no resident casualties.
In response, the Minister visited the Korea Forest Service in person on the afternoon of the 15th, held an on-site meeting, and listened to the voices of employees who worked on wildfire response. A coffee truck was sent to encourage Korea Forest Service employees, along with a warm message of support.
The Minister said, "For the public sector to actively produce results that the public can feel, a culture must take firm root in which civil servants who deliver results are properly recognized and receive appropriate treatment," and added, "As in this Korea Forest Service case, we will spare no support to ensure an excellent operating model—actively identifying civil servants who have produced exceptional results and rewarding them swiftly—spreads across all ministries."
