At the BTS world tour concert in Busan, a large number of scalpers were caught at the scene.
According to police on the 14th, the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency carried out a special crackdown around Busan Asiad Main Stadium for two days on the 12th and 13th, when the BTS world tour concert in Busan was held, and uncovered a total of 10 cases of ticket scalping. Police apprehended 11 people involved and imposed a 160,000 won summary fine on each for violating the Minor Offenses Act.
A Korean woman, identified as A, in her 40s, made an unfair profit of 460,000 won by reselling a ticket with a face value of 220,000 won to a Chinese national for 680,000 won after connecting through an online platform. A was caught by a plainclothes officer at the scene while fastening the entry wristband directly on a Chinese woman. Police also uncovered four additional cases in which tickets worth 220,000 won changed hands for 350,000 to 550,000 won.
There were also cases of illegal transfers. A Korean man, identified as B, in his 30s, rubbed an entry wristband with an alcohol swab to break it off inside a parked van and tried to hand it to a Chinese national, but was arrested by police who responded to a 112 call.
Scalping transactions led by foreigners also occurred. A Chinese woman, identified as C, in her 20s, was caught passing entry wristbands to her compatriots, and another Chinese woman, identified as D, in her 20s, was apprehended for illegally transferring wristbands she had broken off using ethanol swabs to seven fans of Philippine nationality.
The government has listed ticket scalping as one of the crimes that disrupt everyday prices and is continuing a large-scale crackdown. About 70 members of a dedicated task force were deployed to the site this time as well.
The BTS concert in Busan drew 110,000 attendees over two days. BTS will begin its European tour on the 26th in Madrid, Spain.
