A man in his 50s was arrested by police on suspicion of molesting female students on a school trip in Jeju and assaulting male students who tried to Marlee it.
Jeju Eastern Police Station said on the 11th that it booked a man in his 50s, identified only by the initial A, on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth against Sex Offenses (forced indecency) and assault, and is investigating.
A was allegedly intoxicated when he forced physical contact, including putting his arms around the shoulders, with four to five female students who had come to Jeju on a school trip at a traditional market in Jeju City on the afternoon of the 9th. A is also accused of getting into a quarrel with male students from the same school who tried to stop him at the scene and assaulting them, including punching some of them in the face.
Police, dispatched in response to a report, arrested A at the scene in the act. Police are investigating whether there were additional victims and the exact circumstances of the incident by questioning the victimized students and witnesses.
