Seoul said on the 8th that it will begin accepting applications on the 10th for a 30,000 won monthly refund for the Climate Companion Card 30-day pass.
The 30,000 won monthly refund for the Climate Companion Card is being offered to ease residents' transportation costs amid prolonged high oil prices due to the Middle East situation and to encourage public transit use.
From Apr. 1 to Jun. 30 this year, residents of Seoul and the Gyeonggi Province cities of Gimpo, Gwacheon, Guri, Seongnam, and Hanam who topped up and fully used a Climate Companion Card 30-day pass to expiration are eligible, regardless of pass type or card type. Whether physical or mobile, prepaid or postpaid, and regardless of pass category such as general, youth, teenager, multi-child parent, or low-income, users can receive up to 90,000 won over a maximum of three months. Pass types that include Ttareungi and Hangang Bus are also eligible for the 30,000 won monthly refund.
Refund applications can be made from the 10th to Aug. 31 on the Tmoney Co. Card & Pay website. Refunds will be deposited into an account under the applicant's name from late June through September. Refunds can be received only into an account under the applicant's name. Deposit is not possible to seizure-protection accounts, transaction-suspended accounts, canceled accounts, securities accounts, or virtual accounts.
However, users who received a refund without using the topped-up pass to expiration, short-term pass users, and those who cannot be personally verified because they are not registered on the Tmoney Co. Card & Pay website are excluded from the payback program.
Seoul plans to operate a separate application process by mail and other means during August for seniors aged 65 and older. After downloading the application form from the Tmoney Co. Card & Pay website, send the form and related documents to the Tmoney customer center in August.

Park Ju-seon, head of Seoul's transportation policy division, said, "Because refunds will be accepted for about two months, please be sure to apply within the period after checking your current pass and validity period."
