A donation relay that began with a post saying an SK hynix employee donated pizza and snacks to an orphanage in Feb. led to a library remodel with 250 people taking part. A person surnamed A described the good deed as a "money brag" and shared the donation process. As performance bonuses from the semiconductor boom drew social attention, the employee wittily likened the donations to that trend.
On the 7th, on Blind, an anonymous workplace community, a post appeared titled "Brothers, the third installment of the money brag you were waiting for is out," written by a person surnamed A identified as an SK hynix employee. A said, "It started with a donation post to an orphanage in Feb., and we even did a relay to raise funds for the library, and the library remodel is finally finished."
In Feb., A had shared on Blind that pizza, fruit, and snacks were delivered to an orphanage in Sejong. The post drew supportive comments and proof of donations, and the support later expanded to fundraising for building the orphanage's library.
In the latest post, A said, "A total of 250 people joined the donations and a space that is both a shelter and a study room for the kids has been completed," adding, "I'm happy and moved to do something good with warmhearted people." A explained that there were limits due to facility-related administrative procedures and bidding issues, even though there was a desire to convert the space on a larger scale.
Photos released show before-and-after views of the remodel. The original space had boxes and fixtures piled up, and desks were stored folded. After the remodel, desks and chairs were arranged by the windows, and a bookshelf was installed along one wall. The old restroom was reportedly remodeled as well.
A said a projector, speakers, and an air purifier have not yet been procured due to budget issues. A then asked for donations of any unused air purifiers, home audio systems, game consoles, and children's books.
A said, "The director told me the kids love that space so much," adding, "Even if we don't leave a big footprint in life, we have at least conveyed adults' warm attention and love to these kids."

SK hynix posted record results since its founding last year, with revenue of 97.1467 trillion won and operating profit of 47.2063 trillion won. The company operates a profit sharing (PS) program funded with 10% of operating profit. Early this year, a performance bonus of about 150 million won was paid to employees with an annual salary around 100 million won.
