Rain is expected across most of the country on Monday the 8th, easing the early-summer heat that has persisted recently.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 7th, the Seoul metropolitan area, the Chungcheong region, and northern North Gyeongsang will see rain through early morning on the 8th, and Gangwon Province, the southern coast of South Jeolla, the Gyeongsang region, and Jeju Island will see rain through the morning. In the afternoon, showers are expected in parts of inland and mountainous Gangwon, northern North Chungcheong, the northeastern mountains and northern East Sea coast of North Gyeongsang, Ulsan, and the central and eastern inland areas of South Gyeongsang.
Expected rainfall is around 5 mm in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, the Gangwon East Sea coast, the Chungcheong region, the Gyeongsang region, and Jeju Island. Inland and mountainous Gangwon and the Jeolla region are forecast to receive 5-20 mm, and eastern North Jeolla 5-10 mm.
Some areas with rain may also see thunder and lightning accompanied by gusts. The Korea Meteorological Administration urged attention to facility management and safety accidents.
The early-summer heat that continued through midweek last week is expected to ease somewhat. For the time being, temperatures will remain near normal.
On the 8th, morning lows are expected to range from 14-20 C, with afternoon highs from 20-27 C. Normal temperatures are around 14-18 C in the morning and 22-28 C in the afternoon.
In the mountainous areas of Gangwon, dense fog with visibility under 200 meters is expected in some places through the morning due to low clouds moving in on easterly winds.
At sea, winds will be strong mainly over the mid-East Sea waters. Strong winds of 8-13 meters per second (30-45 km/h) are expected through the afternoon, and waves are forecast to rise to 1.5-2.5 meters, requiring caution for vessels navigating or operating.
