The 2nd comprehensive special investigation team (Special Counsel Kwon Chang-young) ended its first summons questioning of former President Yoon Suk-yeol after six and a half hours.
Former President Yoon left the comprehensive special counsel team's office in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, after getting into a Ministry of Justice transport vehicle at about 4:30 p.m. on the 6th. Yoon's defense team said, "We told you everything former President Yoon knows," and added, "He did not exercise the right to remain silent and explained everything as is."
Former President Yoon appeared privately at the special counsel's office in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, at about 9:47 a.m. that day. Appearing as a suspect on charges of abuse of authority, Yoon was questioned by the special counsel from 10 a.m.
Yoon is accused of ordering, through the Office of National Security, that messages be delivered to officials in allied countries, including then U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, shortly after the Dec. 3 declaration of emergency martial law, to the effect that the martial law was justified.
After the questioning, Yoon's defense team said, "The special counsel believed former President Yoon gave detailed instructions through the national security office and even pressed for action, but we explained that was not the case."
Yoon is scheduled to appear again before the special counsel on the 13th to be questioned on charges of being a ringleader of rebellion under the Military Criminal Act.
