The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 5th that it awarded special performance bonuses to contributors to the enactment of key national agenda items, the Life Safety Framework Act and the Act on the Organization and Operation of the Serious Crimes Investigation Office.
The special performance bonus was introduced for the first time this year and is being implemented across all ministries. It was introduced under President Lee Jae-myung's instruction to ensure "bold rewards for civil servants who deliver outstanding results."
The Life Safety Framework Act is a law that clarifies the duties of the state and local governments and establishes a government-wide system and basic principles for advancing life-safety policies. The Safety Policy Coordination Division, the department overseeing the legislation, and the legal affairs team built consensus on the bill through visits to the National Assembly and consultations with civic groups. They were credited with decisively contributing to the drafting and passage of the bill. In addition, the Investigation Policy Team of the Disaster Safety Investigation Division laid out the framework for the core system of establishing an independent standing investigation body to investigate disaster causes and prevent recurrences.
The task force supporting the establishment of the Serious Crimes Investigation Office was recognized for swiftly advancing the enactment of the Serious Crimes Investigation Office Act, which separates investigation and prosecution for the first time in 78 years to ensure the protection of citizens' rights and human rights.
In addition, the legislative team of the legal affairs officer and the National Assembly team of the Director for Planning and Finance were included in this award in recognition of their contributions to supporting the passage of the two laws through the National Assembly throughout the legislative process, including the standing committees, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and the plenary session.
Yoon Ho-jung, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), said, "We will continue to spread a performance-centered organizational culture so that special rewards and encouragement can follow policy results that the public can feel."
