Ewha Womans University alumnae journalists' group Ewha Journalists Club said on the 4th it has selected anchor Lee Yoon-hee of the KBS News Division and former Design House Vice President Kim Eun-ryeong as the winners of the 26th Ewha Journalists Award. The ceremony will be held on the 15th at Lee Sam-bong Hall in the ECC at Ewha Womans University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
Anchor Lee, who graduated from the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting at Ewha Womans University, joined the KBS News Division as a reporter in 2001. After working in the politics, economy, society, culture, and international desks, Lee was appointed anchor of the KBS weekend 9 p.m. news in March last year.
It has been 33 years since a woman solo-anchored the KBS 9 p.m. news, following anchor Shin Eun-kyung. Last year, Lee was also chosen as the moderator for the 21st presidential election TV debate, the first woman to do so.
The former vice president Kim graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Ewha Womans University. After serving as editor-in-chief of Happy Home and Luxury, Kim became a vice president at Design House. Kim is also cited as the person who helped the Living Design Fair, a trade show in the design industry, take root.
The former vice president Kim also worked as a writer and translator. Kim wrote Books Over Rice and Luxury Is, and translated Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, among others. Kim currently publishes the content newsletter HER Report.
