Police have launched an investigation into the online video service (OTT) "Tving," where a personal data leak occurred.
According to police on the 4th, the Korean National Police Agency National Office of Investigation (NOI) Cyber Terror Investigation Unit has begun investigating the Tving member personal data leak case. Police are focusing on alleged violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection and are examining how the personal data was leaked.
Earlier, on the 2nd, Tving confirmed indications that unauthorized external access reached databases (DB) storing personal data and that personal data files were transmitted outside. IDs, names, dates of birth, gender, connected information (CI), duplicate subscription verification information (DI), mobile phone numbers, emails, refund account numbers, and passwords were leaked.
Tving said, "We deeply apologize once again for the concern caused by this incident," and noted, "We will continue to provide guidance on compensation plans and any additional needs."
