According to the Gwangju Seobu Police Station on the 4th, police booked without detention a driver in their 20s, identified as A, on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act and are investigating. A is accused of crashing into a city bus while driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) under the influence at around 11 a.m. on the 3rd at an intersection near Gwangdeok High School in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju.
Police believe A's vehicle entered an uncontrolled intersection and collided with a city bus traveling straight from the left. At the time of the crash, a total of 15 people, including the driver and passengers, were on the city bus. The crash was relatively minor, and no one was transported to a hospital.
Police who responded to the report measured A's blood alcohol concentration at the scene and said it was at a license-suspension level. Police are investigating A to determine the drinking circumstances and the exact cause of the crash.
