As of 9 a.m. on the first day of early voting for the 9th nationwide local elections on the 29th, the nationwide turnout was tallied at 1.70%.
According to the National Election Commission, as of 9 a.m., 758,381 out of a total of 44,649,908 eligible voters had cast their ballots.
This early voting turnout is 0.11 percentage points higher than the turnout at the same hour during the 8th local elections held in 2022 (1.59%). However, it was 1.85 percentage points lower than the early voting turnout at the same hour in the most recent nationwide election, the 21st presidential election (3.55%).
By region, South Jeolla recorded the highest turnout at 4.12%. It was followed by North Jeolla at 3.16%, Gangwon at 2.22%, and Gwangju at 2.08%. In contrast, Daegu was the lowest nationwide at 1.24%.
In the capital region, turnout was 1.57% in Seoul, 1.36% in Gyeonggi, and 1.42% in Incheon.
Early voting runs for two days starting today at 3,571 early voting sites nationwide, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Voters who bring a photo ID such as a resident registration card, passport, or driver's license can vote at any early voting site nationwide regardless of their registered address. Mobile IDs are also accepted, but screenshot images are not recognized.
