A detention warrant was dismissed for the former head of the domestic distributor of running shoe brand HOKA, who is accused of assaulting a former transaction partner's CEO and an employee.
On the 29th, the Seoul Eastern District Court dismissed the warrant after holding a pretrial detention hearing for Cho Sung-hwan, former JOYWORKS&Co CEO, who is accused of causing bodily injury. The court said it dismissed the warrant because "there is no concern about destroying evidence or fleeing."
The former CEO Cho is accused of luring a former transaction partner's CEO and an employee to an abandoned church building in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, in December last year and assaulting them. After the controversy erupted following the incident, the former CEO Cho resigned as CEO in January. HOKA's U.S. headquarters terminated its domestic distribution contract with JOYWORKS&Co.
