Police have sought an arrest warrant for an employee of a partner company who wounded two people with a weapon at the LG Electronics Magok business complex in Gangseo District, Seoul.
The Seoul Gangseo Police Station applied for an arrest warrant on the 28th for A, a man in his 60s who works for an LG Electronics partner company, on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police arrested A on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but additionally applied the charge of attempted murder, determining there was intent to kill regarding one of the two victims, who is in serious condition.
A is accused of swinging a camping knife around 11 a.m. on the previous day on the second floor of Science Park, the LG Electronics Magok business complex, and inflicting serious injuries on two LG Electronics employees.
The victims, a man in his 50s and a man in his 40s, were taken to a hospital with injuries to the flank and arm, respectively, and are not in life-threatening condition.
A reportedly told police to the effect that "the victim usually looked down on me and I committed the crime after receiving a notice of dismissal." However, the victims were said to have refuted that A's claim is not true.
If prosecutors file the arrest warrant request that police submitted to the court, the court will hold a pretrial detention hearing (substantive warrant review) and decide whether to detain A.
