Police have launched a compulsory investigation in a case in which Samsung Biologics filed a complaint against a labor union Chairperson on suspicion of leaking trade secret materials.
According to police on the 27th, the Security Investigation Division of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency sent investigators the previous day to execute a search and seizure warrant at the Songdo Samsung Biologics headquarters business site. Police were said to have secured system access logs and company entry records from in-house servers and other sources.
Police said they collected the necessary materials through a search and seizure, rather than voluntary submission, to maintain the fairness of the investigation.
On the 20th of last month, Samsung Biologics filed a complaint against labor union Chairperson Park Jae-seong on charges including defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection and breach of duty. The company believes Park edited trade secret materials, such as tax invoices handled by the public relations-related department, and distributed them externally.
Chairperson Park and the union deny the allegations in full.
