The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office said on the 27th it will set up a dedicated team to respond to the collapse at the Seosomun overpass demolition site in Seodaemun-gu.
It decided to form the team with four dedicated prosecutors and six investigators, led by Head of Team So Jae-hwan, a Director General prosecutor. So is a certified specialist prosecutor in the "safety accidents" field at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
The Western District Prosecutors' Office said, "The dedicated team will work closely with related agencies, including the police and the Labor Office, to thoroughly determine the cause of the accident and who is responsible, and will do its best to ensure prompt support for victims."
At about 2:31 p.m. on the previous day, the deck structure collapsed at the Seosomun overpass demolition site, killing three people, including the site manager who was conducting a safety inspection, and injuring three others. The Seosomun overpass received a "D grade" in a safety assessment and had been under demolition since Sep. last year.
