A man in his 40s accused of assaulting a postal worker in the middle of a Seoul road and then hitting responding police with his car before fleeing has been indicted and will stand trial while detained.
On the 26th, according to legal sources, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office indicted a person surnamed Hwang (42) on the 30th of last month on charges including obstructing the performance of special official duties.
Hwang is accused of assaulting postal worker A at about 2 p.m. on the 21st of last month on the road at the Ujangsan Station intersection in Gangseo District. After getting out of his car, Hwang allegedly dragged A off a motorcycle while A was waiting at a light, grabbed A by the collar, and assaulted A.
Hwang is also accused of hitting a police officer who responded to the scene with his car and fleeing about 2 kilometers. Hwang reportedly told police that his motive was that "the postal worker cut into the lane."
