Lee & Ko said on the 26th it will hold an artificial intelligence (AI) law and policy forum on June 5 under the theme "legal and policy tasks for building a national innovation foundation in the age of artificial intelligence transformation (AX)."
The forum, to be held at the auditorium on the 26th floor of the Hanjin Building main building in Jung-gu, Seoul, is co-hosted by Lee & Ko's Tech & AI Team, the Korea Information & Communication Law Association, the Korea Data and Artificial Intelligence Law and Policy Association, and the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI).
The forum was arranged to explore trust-based AI innovation strategies and legal and policy responses, focusing on directions to improve the AI Basic Act, legal issues and tasks in AI security, and balanced regional development for AI.
The presentations will proceed under three topics. Kye In-guk, a professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration at Korea University, will present on "directions to improve the AI Basic Act," and attorney Jung Se-jin will present on "legal issues and tasks in AI security." Then Lee Euddeum, an associate research fellow at the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), will present on "regional balanced development through the lens of AI readiness: diagnosis and policy tasks." A comprehensive discussion session will then be held under the leadership of Chair Lee Seong-yeop.
Chair Lee Seong-yeop, who planned this event, said, "In the AX age, how precisely we design the laws and policies that underpin technological innovation is the key task that determines national competitiveness," adding, "I hope this forum will serve as an opportunity to review the legislative and policy tasks that should proceed after the enforcement of the AI Basic Act."
Attorney Ko Hwan-gyeong of Lee & Ko said, "Lee & Ko has built advisory experience in establishing AI governance, responding to AX projects, AI regulatory compliance, site, power, and environmental permitting for AI data center establishment, and physical AI services for major domestic and international corporations."
