A man in his 40s accused of breaking into actor Kim Gyu-ri's residence, demanding money and valuables, and assaulting the occupants will undergo a pretrial detention hearing.
Lee Jong-rok, Director General and warrant-judge at the Seoul Central District Court, will hold a pretrial detention hearing at 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd for a suspect, identified only as A, on charges of aggravated robbery resulting in injury.
A is accused of breaking into Kim Gyu-ri's residence in Bukchon Hanok Village in Jongno District, Seoul, at about 9 p.m. on the 20th, demanding money and valuables, and assaulting an occupant.
At the time, Kim Gyu-ri and another woman were inside the home, and they reportedly slipped out of the residence when A's guard was down and asked a nearby passerby for help.
In the process, the two were reportedly injured by A's assault, including fractures and bruises.
Police dispatched in response to the report began a pursuit, and A turned themself in in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District, Seoul, about three hours after the crime.
The Jongno Police Station in Seoul urgently arrested A on charges of aggravated robbery resulting in injury. A police investigation found that A had no prior acquaintance with Kim Gyu-ri.
A decision on whether to detain A is expected as early as tonight.
